Beach Cities include Marina Del Rey, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and Playa Del Rey.  Real estate expansion reflected industry and institutions settling in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is a global city. As a melting pot, people have flocked to Los Angeles, CA. 20th-century people came nationally and internationally to Los Angeles.

With the end of the Mexican-American War in 1848, Los Angeles became part of the United States. California received statehood in 1850. Residence of Los Angeles are known as, Angelenos.
